Conventions

There are videos of a similar genre to mine that repeat several bits of the song, examples are Kasabian - Fire, when the chorus comes on the video cuts to a bank robbery, when the chorus finishes is goes to a man singing on his own again.

Another Example is The Killers - Human, there are shots repeated all the way through, shots of the white tiger, arrial shots etc...

The song Mr Brightside has 20 lines of the song then 7 lines for the chorus, the same 20 lines again followed by 7 lines for the choruses and finally 4 lined that are different saying 'I never' This shows that I can duplicate the song and have the second half the same as the first, as it follows the conventions of similar songs in the genre.

Description of my video

I want to make a narrative video. I will film it on the school stage and have several cuts, showing all the band members. I will focus on the lead singer more than the rest of the band.

I want to try and include elements of black and white and strobe lighting. I will include small sections of close up lip syncing, as well as close ups, mid-shots and long shots of each member. I shall incorporate the every member of the band together in one shot for the start of the chorus.

Band Biography

I decided to call my band Ephemera, as I felt that it gave the idea of my media work. ‘Ephemera’ means something with a short term enjoyment and usefulness. This gives the idea that the band would only be used for my music video for media. The name had a good ring to it and sounded right for the alternative rock genre. Ephemra is a UK Alternative Rock band,which formed in the summer 2013 and are centred on having fun and creating a good vibe in our music. They will cover the popular alternative rock song by The Killers, Mr Brightside. The band recently formed and decided on a song to cover for their first cover. The band have a love for bands such as The Killers, Kings of Leon, Florence and the Machine, Coldplay ect.

Killers - Moodboard

The Killers fit the genre of rock and conform to the styles of common rock bands. The lead singer looks the most normal and least like the member of a rock band. The music they play isnt heavy rock, it is alternative rock.

All American Rejects - Moodboard

The band members in the All American rejects don't really conform to the genre of rock. They dont have the special look about them that makes them look like a rock band. They look like normal average humans. However when they have been styled, for exemple in some of the lower images, they appear to look more like a rock band. They dont all havee tatoos and long dark hair, one of them is ginger.
